Twilight Samurai

I saw Yoji Yamada's Twilight Samurai. It's all centered around a beautiful performance by Hiroyuki Sanada.

I recommend this highly. It's not an action movie... at all. It's a very quiet story of a man and a father and his responsibilities.

When it does have its rare action sequences they're very real and speak as much to the characters and what's going on inside them then they do to any machinations of plot that spur on action most movies... although I think Yamada is closer to a tradional samurai movie than he thinks from the interview... but in no ways that should keep you from exploring this wonderful story.
