Zachariah and the Lobos Riders

I watched Dead and Breakfast, which was merely ok, as the world of splatstick zombie flicks go.

It does, however, have a wonderfully funny running musical commentary by Zachariah and the Lobos Riders, which is absolutely brilliant.

Their MySpace profile lists their influences as Eagles, Beastie Boys, G. Love and Special Sauce, Gram Parsons, Old 97's, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, Slick Rick, Black Sheep, Kinky Friedman, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne, Wilco, Early 70's California stoner country-rock. Pistol Opera, Dylan Connor, Coby Brown, Heath, Bobby Joyner, Sundowners, Bryson Jones, Jonny Kaplan, Mike Stinson, Walkie Talkie, Emmylou Harris and Warren Zevon. If that makes any sense to you, check it out.

Check 'em out. "We're Comin' To Kill You" may be the most perfect blending of rap and country I've ever heard. "Worst Dressed" is an hilarious hillybilly take on being "the worst dressed son of a bitch this country's ever seen". And "Tucson Afternoon" is a nice '70s-style country rock tune.

Some day when I have money, I'll have to pick up a couple of these CDs.
