Goodbye, Armando!

Fantasy Island star Ricardo Montalban dead.

There are a multitude of roles he leaves behind, and will be remembered for. This is the one closest to my heart.

And anyone not feeling enough of a loss over this, and even those who are, are encouraged to read Ricardo Montalban, R.I.P. by Mark Evanier for a perfectly charming anecdote.

Fantasy Island - used to love that show. Another one of the old school actors gone.

Me, too. Actually just watched the first season on DVD this last year and still enjoyed it quite a bit.

I never find these things out until I visit a blog. This is the first I've heard of it. I love all the Apes movies and he's great as Armando. But his special place in my heart will always be due to his role as Khan in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. God how I love he and Shatner's Ultimate Over-Acting Game of One Upmanship they play in that movie. No one, not even Gregory Peck, has ever done the lines from Moby Dick (paraphrased of course) as well as Ricardo.

Oh, Jonathan! You won't really make me choose between the kind and quirky Armando, the circus owner and the mighty and glorious Khan Noonian Singh are you. I'm not sure I could actually manage.

But in the end, I knew there would be plenty of Khan tributes throughout the so-called "blogosphere" and I think it's good to remember that he was a fine and varied actor for decades,

I am still really sad over his passing. There were so many things I saw him in over the years. He will be sorely missed by so many of us. R.I.P.

Me, too. I just ended up having a phone conversation a day or so ago and teared up while I was talking.
