Star Wars and Republican presidents

Ok, so earlier today I tweeted this.

The next election after Star Wars was 1980. The next election after The Phantom Menace was 2000. And now the 2016 election follows The Force Awakens.

Now, were one to take it seriously, one could either be concerned that Disney/Lucasfilm plans to continue to make Star Wars movies ad infinitum or they could look at the fact that the timeframe between the movie and the election has closed in, which could mean something else.

Whether or not Geroge Luca and J.J. Abrams want to admit it,the STAR WARS series and its wicked rulers(and the governments they reign over) are indeed a metaphor for the Republican government(with a certain insane billionaire's yearn to fashion his Administration in the style of the Imperial Empire(/The First Order).

It was actually a train of thought on the controversy at the time of Revenge of the Sith, which was suggested to be - and could easily be read as - a criticism of the Bush administration that led me to this notion.

For what it's worth, at that time, Lucas said it was story material developed in the '70s and intended to reference Nixon, so still a reference to a Republican president. I think he chose not to deny the applicability of the story line to the Bush administration.
